Carpet protection is usually overlooked at the time of purchasing. Unless the retailer offers this service you wouldn’t know you needed it or the benefits.
But what if we were to take carpet protection to the next level?
Here is a a picture some of you will be all too familiar with, the dreaded coffee stain!
The carpet featured in the above picture was a very expensive, wool-rich designer brand. With no protector applied, the hot coffee simply soaked into the carpet, even though the customer applied a quality stain removal product and blotted the area, this is how we found the carpet – the next morning.

However the boiling hot coffee spillage had set in and wasn’t going to be easy to remove!
Two hours later, we had managed to remove most of the stain – but that hot coffee had sadly damaged the carpet and there really was only 2 options left:
- Repair the carpet
- Replace the carpet
How carpet protection could of prevented this

The manufacturer of Scotch Gard has now stopped production, other products are available and one in particularly is proving to be very good indeed.
Applying a quality protector to a new wool carpet most certainly will reduce the chances of permanent staining. Here is a loop pile carpet which has been protected, just look how the water just sits on the surface!
Hot liquids will naturally break surface tension and appear to soak in, however the protector will still stop the colours in the liquid damaging the dyes in the carpet.
